2022 Ford Escape

The Escape's stylish look and sporty features appeal to a wide variety of drivers. Available trim levels are the S, SE, SEL, and Titanium. The Escape also features SE, SEL, and Titanium hybrid models, as well as SE, SEL, and Titanium plug-in hybrid models. Ford offers multiple add-ons and supplemental features to enhance the exterior of the Escape.

Ford offers the Escape with a variety of engine options, including two hybrid models. Offered with standard models, the first engine option includes a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower. Upper-level trims feature a 2-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower. This upgraded engine can reach a speed of 60 mph in approximately seven seconds. The hybrid engine configuration combines a 2.5-liter inline-four engine with lithium-ion batteries, as well as a hybrid transmission. These hybrid models sport 200 horsepower with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The Escape Plug-In Hybrid features a 14.4-kWh hybrid battery that can charge in approximately 3.5 hours using Level 2 outlets, such as specific vehicle charging outlets at a home, workplace, gas station, or other public locations. Ford offers this model with front-wheel drive.

Base models of the Escape sport an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, but drivers can add all-wheel drive. Fuel efficiency ratings include 28 city mpg and 34 highway mpg for the base version. If the Escape adds all-wheel drive, fuel efficiency becomes an estimated 26 city mpg and 31 highway mpg. If your Escape is a hybrid, it features an estimated fuel efficiency of 41 combined mpg for front-wheel-drive versions and 40 combined mpg for all-wheel-drive models. Plug-In Escape Hybrids drive approximately 37 miles of electric driving range on a charge. After using all of its electric charge power, these models can reach 40 mpg combined.

Although it's labeled as a compact SUV, the Escape sports a spacious interior with an abundance of headroom and legroom. Base versions of the Escape include cloth seats, while upper-level trims feature heated seats with leather upholstery. The Escape also provides plenty of small storage cubbies and spaces for all of your gear. The rear bench seat slides if you need to increase cargo space to accommodate larger items. As far as technology goes, the base trim level offers a 4.2-inch touch screen for information and entertainment, but an 8-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is available as an upgrade. The Escape Hybrid model includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for displaying driving information. Upgrade to the Titanium trim level and you'll get leather upholstery, a B&O speaker system for audio, and acoustic glass. Available add-ons for the Escape include a panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, and a navigation system.

All 2022 Escapes feature active lane control and automatic emergency braking as standard safety features. Upper-level trims include a driver's head-up display, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and automatic parking assistance.
