2023 Ford Transit Commercial
The Ford Transit is a commercial cargo van that helps make work and life on the road easier for many small businesses. It's offered in several different configurations, including a high roof and an extended version that provides room for almost any cargo. For the 2023 model year, a new Transit Trail joins the lineup with a camper base designed to be transformed into a living space. Other updates for 2023 include making the 12-inch touchscreen standard along with the updated Sync 4 system. Here's a look at some features you can get with the Transit Van.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Transit Cargo Van comes in one trim level. The different versions include the 150, 250, and 350, depending on the gross vehicle weight ratings. Ford offers it with a low, medium, or high roof, and you can get it with a short or long wheelbase. All models come standard with a sliding passenger-side door, keyless entry, and power-adjustable side mirrors. Some of the optional exterior features include running boards, a 60/40-split hinged passenger side door if you have the low-roof model, and fog lights.
Engine (Power)
The base engine for the Ford Transit Commercial is a 3.5-liter V-6 gas engine that puts out 275 horsepower. An optional 3.5-liter turbo V-6 with 310 horsepower is available for any of the models. Both engines work with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and rear-wheel drive comes standard. All-wheel drive is optional, no matter what configuration or engine you have.
Performance
Either of the engines provides the Transit with plenty of power, but the turbo V-6 will propel the large van to 60 mph in just 6.8 seconds. The ride stays smooth and comfortable due to the well-tuned suspension that eats up road imperfections. When equipped with the tow package, it can pull up to 7,500 pounds.
Interior
The Transit Commercial Cargo van has two seats and a vast cargo area, while the passenger wagon can seat up to 15 people. The Transit Trail has swivel front seats, a built-in fuse panel, and an onboard AC inverter. Standard features in most models include cargo area tie-downs, vinyl upholstery, power windows, and air conditioning. The Passenger van has cloth upholstery. The base Transit has a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth for phone and streaming, and a four-inch multifunction display screen. A Wi-Fi hotspot comes standard, and there's even a 12-inch touchscreen available as an option. The larger screen works with the Sync 4 infotainment system and comes with navigation and satellite radio. It also works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Safety Features
All the 2023 Transit Vans have a rearview camera and come with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite of advanced driver aids. This bundle includes a forward collision warning system with mitigation, automatic braking, lane-departure warning with mitigation, and a driver attention warning system. It also includes automatic high-beam headlights. An integrated brake controller is available as an option, and the Transit is also available with some added driver aids. These include a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive cruise control.
