The 2023 Ford Explorer looks sporty and sleek from the outside. Inside, you’ll find a spacious SUV with third-row seating and advanced infotainment features. With a hybrid option and a plethora of trim levels, the Explorer is more than meets the eye.

Trim Levels

There are eight trim levels for the Explorer. These start with Base and move up to XLT, ST-Line, Timberline, Limited, ST, King Ranch, and Platinum.

Performance

There are three engines for the various models of the Explorer. The standard engine in the Base is a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine that delivers up to 300 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque. This comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission, start-stop technology, and a trailer sway control package.

Higher trim levels have access to a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers up to 400 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft of torque. There is also a hybrid engine. This 3.3-liter engine delivers a maximum of 318 horsepower and 322 lb.-ft of torque. The hybrid engine is the standard on the Platinum trim level.

Safety

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the standard safety package in the Base trim level and above. It includes safety assist features like auto high beams, a lane-keeping assist system, and adaptive cruise control. It also includes a pre-collision assist.

The standard Explorer comes with a rearview camera complete with backup assist grid lines. There are also rear parking sensors that beep when the vehicle is close to an obstacle.

Exterior

The standard Base level Explorer comes complete with a power liftgate. It also includes automatic LED low and high-beam headlights.

The Platinum trim level adds LED fog lamps and rain-sensing windshield wipers to the Explorer. It also adds dual chrome exhaust tips and a rear bumper step pad. Additionally, the Platinum has skid plate elements in the front and rear with premium silver paint.

Interior

The Explorer seats up to seven passengers. There is a third-row bench seat and a second-row bench seat that both fold flat to maximize the cargo space. An eight-way driver seat is also standard.

The upper trim levels elevate many of these same features. For example, the Platinum model comes with a 10-way power driver seat and second-row heated captain seats with armrests. It also adds PowerFold third-row seats and upgrades the seating to leather surfaces.

Infotainment

The Base Explorer comes with a 10.1-inch LCD touchscreen. It comes with FordPass Connect WiFi hotspot capabilities, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

The top-tier Platinum adds features like a 12-speaker sound system with a subwoofer from B&O. It also adds a voice-activated navigation system. These are two features that will be great additions to your next road trip.

With hybrid options and excellent infotainment, the Explorer remains a top choice among SUV enthusiasts. Drivers looking for their next SUV will want to see this spacious option for themselves. Visit Medford Motors, Inc. now to see our wide selection of 2023 Ford Explorer trims.
