Whether you are looking for a place to enjoy your favorite outdoor sports or simply relax and spend some time away from the city, here are some great day trips you can go on in your new 2022 Ford Expedition.

1. Flambeau River State Forest

Offering excellent backcountry opportunities and covering over 92,000 acres of forestland, Flambeau River State Forest is a wonderful day trip destination that can be reached in about one hour and 15 minutes by car via State Highway 13. Open year-round between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm, this state forest is nestled between two branches of the Flambeau River, making it a true paradise for water sports enthusiasts.

Some of the facilities you can find at Flambeau River State Forest include several miles of hiking trails, family campgrounds, fishing piers, designated hunting areas, picnic shelters, and swimming spots. Home to large populations of white-tailed deer, wolves, black bears, bald eagles, otters, and ospreys, this nature reserve is also a great spot for wildlife watching and photography.

2. Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest

Covering an area of over one and a half million acres, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is one of the most scenic destinations in the entire state of Wisconsin and a great place for Medford residents wanting to unwind, breathe some fresh air, and take a break from the routine. Established in the early 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this place features large swathes of old-growth forest and is open to the public year-round.

Also a popular destination for wildlife watching, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is home to different species including white-tailed deer, foxes, river otters, wolves, moose, elk, and blackbirds. Located a little under 65 miles north of the Medford city center, this nature reserve can be reached in about one hour and 20 minutes by car via State Highway 13.

If you live in Medford, you’re lucky. You have several amazing parks near your home. These spots are the perfect place to chill and relax, explore, or host a picnic with friends. If you enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new places, read on to learn about three of the best local spaces that are worth the drive near Medford, WI.

Medford City Park South

Medford City Park South is one of the most popular spots in Medford. It’s a large park with plenty of space for kids to run around and play any number of games. There are two play structures, swings, and slides, as well as a few benches and picnic tables. There is also a walking path that runs around the perimeter of the park, which makes it easy for kids to go on a walk with their parents or grandparents.

The park is fully fenced in, so if you have young children who like to run off, this would be the perfect park for them! The park is also open during the winter months, so if you want to get out and enjoy some fresh air during the cold season, this is a great place to go!

Campus Trail Park

Located just off Highway 20 on South Main Street in Medford, Campus Trail Park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for families and friends alike. There is a playground with swings, slides, and climbing equipment, as well as two baseball fields and two softball fields.

The park also features a walking trail that circles the park and can be used year-round by both hikers and snowshoers. The trail is roughly two miles long and takes about an hour to complete. The park also features picnic tables, pavilions, and restrooms.

Jaycee Park

Jaycee Park is a great spot to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. The park is located right along the Yahara River, so you can also enjoy some fishing or sunbathing on the sandy beach. The park has over 5 miles of trails, so you can hike or bike through the woods and even cross-country ski in winter months.

There are also several picnic areas with grill pits and shelters available for rent. Jaycee Park is a great place to spend time with friends or family members. It’s also perfect for those looking to get some exercise while enjoying the outdoors!
